What to expect together during our 2 weeks together?

Yoga, meditation and pranayama classes and 'being' with a fine group of like-minded sisters in a beautiful place. But also relax in the sun, swim in the warm sea and various excursions 'in tune' with the chakra of the day!

Tara, with her 40+ years of experience in India, will show you the treasures of Goa! Sea and beach of course and also a freshwater lake, local markets and surprising shopping streets and much more!

We sing with sunset mantras on the beach almost every evening and can also enjoy some beautiful Indian dance and music performances.

The place where the retreat takes place is outside the busy areas of Goa, unspoilt quiet beach, swaying palm trees, blue sky, warm sea and sunshine.

THE YOGA

During the 2-week yoga retreat with like-minded sisters, you will be gently initiated into an in-depth practice consisting of yoga postures, meditation and pranayama (yoga breathing). It does not matter whether you are a beginner or an advanced student. Because we are a small group, Tara will have plenty of time to give you personal instructions.

Everyone can delve into the consciousness of her or his body, breathing and being. Even if you have never done yoga before, this is a great opportunity to get used to a non-demanding yoga practice at your own pace.

The morning classes are in a more dynamic Yang Yoga style, while we end the day with a more soothing Yin-Yoga exercises. Every day is dedicated to one of the chakras so that we can go deep into the transformational quality of each of them. In this way, we develop skills to work with these 7 energy gates on healing, more vitality and pleasure.

There is a nice yoga shala. This is an oasis designed to transform and restore the soul. The perfect place to relax and come back to your (true) self!

DE LOCATIE

The cottages at the retreat centre are in a quiet location. Each cottage has a lot of privacy, is protected from the sun by coconut palm trees and is surrounded by dense greenery of lush, exotic gardens.

Each cottage features a private porch with seating area and an en-suite bathroom with a powerful hot shower.

The entire retreat location is surrounded by coconut trees, banana plants and cashew trees.

The beach is only a 5-minute drive away. You can enjoy beautiful walks on the white sandy beaches. And you will be able to enjoy breathtaking sunsets every evening ... 

The Cuisine

You will enjoy many delicious fresh raw food as well as Indian dishes. Most of the food is grown in the gardens of the retreat centre.

The Ayurvedic based food is inspired from various regions of India and made into the tastiest of traditional vegetarian dishes. 

Our food is regarded as medicine, prepared with much love for your wellbeing.

If you can not eat certain foods or don't like them then we can always accommodate your needs...

Namaste!  I'm Tara

Yoga has been my guiding light ever since I was a little girl, living with my mother in a spiritual community in India.

My approach to wellness and healing on top of a regular yoga & meditation practice is letting go of unhealthy lifestyle practices that don't serve me or my spirit.

After 20 years of teaching yoga, I gave birth to SunfoodYoga retreats in 2006, where you can enjoy the powerful blend of raw and ayurvedic cuisine combined with the finest yoga & meditation experiences in a beautiful natural surrounding.

After you get home, you’ll be invited to a private Facebook or WhatsApp group where you can keep in touch with your new made friends, swap stories, pictures and keep everyone in the loop with your triumphs & challenges.

Arrival day. Programm starts at 17 pm with a juice and a sharing circle. At 19 pm we have dinner.

7 am We start our day with fresh lemon water and tea 8 am chakra meditation and yogasession. 10 am Breakfast 11 am explore the beach and surrounding area, swimm etc.

Day 3

First chakra day. The meditation and yoga are focused on grounding ourselves.. We work with the earth element through re-connecting with nature and making a beautiful walking meditation along the beach. Second Chakra day. The meditation and yoga are focused on coming in to our flow. The focus is on the element water, swimming in the sea and hydrating and cleansing our bodies with fresh juices.

Second Chakra day. The meditation and yoga are focused on coming in to our flow. The focus is on the element water, swimming in the sea and hydrating and cleansing our bodies with fresh juices.

Third Chakra day. The meditation and yoga are focused on igniting our inner fire and coming our power, We work with the fire element. We have a fire ceremony to let go of that which no longer serves us.

Fourth chakra day. Heart chakra day. The meditation and yoga are focused on coming into the heart space. We work with the air element. We will do more pranayama, breathing exercises and have a heart sharing circle.

Sixth Chakra day. The third eye. The meditation and yoga are focused on connecting and tuning in to our inner wisdom, intuition and inner guidance. The element here is light.

Fifth Chakra day. The meditation and yoga are focused on more pranayama and using our voice through mantra.

Seventh Chakra, the crown. We focus this day more on meditation and silence. Moving beyond the body, mind and emotions.

This day the meditation and yoga is focused on bringing all what we have learned together in to a nice flow. A journey through all the chakra's.

We have a short meditation and yoga session from 8,15 - 9 am and then breakfast at 9,15, after that people depart.

Air Travel: There are flights straight to Goa or you can fly first to the city Mumbai and then take a domestic flight to the Airport Vasco-da-Gama(DABOLIM), which is the nearest airport to where we hold our retreat. It is about 1 1/2 hour with a taxi. Ground transport can be arranged by us and is about 20€ p.p.     This retreat in India has been a beautiful combination of yoga and holiday's. Every morning we started with warm-up exercises on the beach and a swim in the warm ocean. Then being delighted with fresh coconut-water and papaya, to get ready for a deeper yoga session in a beautiful yoga Shala looking out over the rice fields. A lovely brunch with fresh juices, fruits salads and more... Days flew by to quickly.... I could feel Tara's life long experience as a yoga teacher, her deep caring for everyone on this retreat and it helped me to relax in to a meditative unity consciousness. Also the yoga classes with Deesi where great, they helped me to deal with my lower back pain. We made some lovely excursions, and enjoyed Indian music concerts and dance. I would advice anyone who wants to get some sunshine in the winter and get inspired with yoga and a more healthy life style to do this retreat. Thank you so much!     The Shakti retreat really felt as a deep inner journey through the chakras. Being in magical India and the spiritual place Goa intensified this feeling. I felt especially the first 2 chakra's more profoundly: the earth and water chakra where I could let go of all my past stress and emotions. I enjoyed it most when we had a strong yoga session in the morning and then went on an excursion in the afternoon; to Arambol, the jungle where we took the clay bath etc In this way we saw also more of the surrounding area. When we had a late yoga session and then in the afternoon again, it was sometimes to much for me. I understand people have different needs, but for me the first structure would have brought more clarity and rest. I need everyday at least 2 hours in between for myself. Anyway I really enjoyed the retreat very much! Thanks Aniek Schmal 31-04-2016 waarbij je al je stress en emoties voelt los te laten. Het leukste vond ik wanneer we in de ochtend volle yogasessie deden en in de middag op pad gingen; naar Arombol, de klei jungle, etc. Waarbij je ook echt iets meer van Goa mee krijgt. Soms voelden de dagen wat vol wanneer we later yoga deden en in de middag weer. Het was duidelijk dat iedereen daarin andere behoeftes heeft. Nu was het fijn dat we het konden uitproberen maar iets meer structuur brengt wat meer duidelijkheid en rust. Waarbij het belangrijk is om tussendoor minstens 2 uur voor jezelf te hebben.
